Nutrilab was originally established by an agronomist who offered the combined services of analysis and interpretation. As the business grew the two services needed to be split and it was sold to the current owners in 2004.
The company is run by a board of directors that is made of local businesspeople, farmers, and agronomists who also have other business interests in Goondiwindi.
Nutrilab is not associated with a fertiliser company or agronomic facility and as such is able to offer an independent service. It does not make any recommendations, although always happy to talk through the results with customers.
The team at Nutrilab have worked in the industry for a combination of over 40 years. The main staff have worked in both the agricultural and science industries allowing for a greater area of knowledge about how they interact together.
Even our administration staff have worked in the lab and have been part of the team for over 18 years. This experience ensures the team are best placed to provide an accurate, reliable, and efficient service.
Laboratory Manager
Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Rural Technology)
I enjoyed a farm based childhood which cemented my love for agriculture. After studying at Gatton, I moved to Melbourne and started my laboratory career. Here I still worked in the agricultural community by genotyping cattle for sire suitability. I also completed DNA extractions from blood, semen, and hair on a regular basis. Moving back to sunny Queensland I continued in the laboratory setting aiding in the wallaby genome project as well as other commercial sequencing. Missing the rural background, I moved back to Goondiwindi and joined my love of agriculture with my laboratory background. Sixteen years later and I still love my work.
Laboratory Technician
Bachelor of Natural Resources (Honours)
I grew up on the family farm in northwest NSW. I completed a Bachelor of Natural Resources (Honours) at the University of New England in 2001. After 2 years in that field, my career path took me out of that industry. However, 10 years later I wanted to return to my agricultural and science background and was successful in becoming a part time laboratory technician with Nutrilab. Nine years later I’m still enjoying the role and daily challenges.
